Cryptozoology note cards

International Cryptozoology Museum
When most think of Cryptozoology they think of the Loch Ness Monster or Big foot, because Cryptozoology is the study of unknown animals. But not all Cryptids are mythical. Some well known animals today used to be cryptids like Mountain Gorillas and Giant Pandas. This project sheds light on other types of Cryptids. Animals that we are not sure are still around and it is possible they have went extinct already because so few sightings have happened over the past 50 years.

Paper & Envolopes
There are two different variations of card sets. One is light brown natural paper with dark brown envelopes an the other is a stone gray with dark gray envolopes. Both sets of envolopes were created with a custom dieline and handfolded out of textured paper giving them a very natural earthy look.

Method
The illustrations are meant to have a similar look to the naturalist illustrations in the 1800’s. Each animal was drawn in procreate then carved out of rubber blocks to create prints. The prints were then scanned back into digital form. There are three carvings per card the footprint, animal and border. They were colorized in Procreate then moved to InDesign to bring all the elements together.

Profile, habitat & Reasons for Possible Extinctions
All three note cards are unique. They have the animals nick name, scientific name and a brief but consise profile, history, habitiat and reasons for possible extinctions. The series is called the footprint series because that is all you ever see of them.  Even the fading footprint behind each paragraph represents the disappearance or fading of the species.

Logo
The logo has two unverified Cryptids Big Foot and Loch Ness. It also has a known fish that was thought to be extinct, but was found still living in very deep ocean depths. They are all white to show they are not in our view because they are either unknown or undetermined.
